Zeta Tau Alpha, a sorority on the campus of Louisiana State University will host a variety of events this month to raise the awareness of Breast Cancer, which is the most common form of cancer found in women in Louisiana. Each year over 3,000 new cases are discovered. Early detection is important and annual screening should be had by all women over the age of 35. Most doctors recommend mammograms starting at age 40 or 45, but with this disease on the increase, prevention is the key.

Zeta Tau Alpha will be hosting Pinktoberfest on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm which will be open to the public. The program will benefit the Yoplait's Save Lids to Save Lives program and guests will be encouraged to come out and have a cup of free yogurt (or two). All of the lids will be collected for Breast Cancer Awareness and donated to Yoplait's Save Lids to Save Lives Program to raise money for breast cancer research. Zeta Tau Alpha will also host a yogurt eating contest . Zeta Tau Alpha is located at 4010 Lakeshore Drive, Baton Rouge, LA.

Representatives from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation will also be present to hand out brochures and information about breast care health and discuss with students and the public the importance of early detection and breast cancer health.

Zeta Tau Alpha will also have receptacles in place at the Student Union and various other campus locations for collection of Yoplait Yogurt lids during the month of October.

In addition to the event at Zeta Tau Alpha, Susan G. Komen On The Go will be on the LSU Campus from 9:00am to 3:00 pm on Tower Drive for an awareness event sponsored by the LSU Wellness Education Department. Participants will be able to participate in events to win prizes and also come away with more knowledge about breast cancer and breast care/health. There will also be computer terminals set up for the public to sit down and read about more information on the internet concerning breast cancer. Zeta Tau Alpha will be serving as volunteers for the Komen On The Go event.
