How to Sharpen a Pair of Scissors, the Easy Way

Over time and use scissor can get dull and hard to use. Scissors is a hard object to sharpen by yourself but here is an idea to help you keep all the scissors in your home sharp and it tip top shape.

To sharpen a scissor all you need is an old used piece of aluminum foil. You can use a new piece of aluminum foil but why do that when an old piece will work just fine and you are going to throw it away anyway. Recycling is great and this is a great way to recycle an old piece of aluminum foil.

Take the aluminum foil and fold it up a few times. Keep the aluminum foil as flat as you can when you fold it up. Then take the scissors that needs to be sharpened and cut the aluminum foil with it several times. Eight or nine times should be enough to sharpen a scissors. You can even sharpen more then one scissor if you have a big enough piece of aluminum foil.

When you are done you should have a scissors that is sharper then when you started and if you want to try to get the scissors sharper you can repeat the process.

Then you can take the aluminum foil that you have cut up and use it as a Christmas decoration on your Christmas tree. Or you can take the strips of aluminum foil and put them in your fruit trees to help keep the birds out of the fruit trees. The strips of aluminum foil can also help to keep the rabbits out of the garden. Just hang the strips of aluminum foil out in the garden. When the wind blows it will move the aluminum foil strips and the rabbits don't like that so they stay away. You can also use these strips of aluminum foil for art projects that your kids can do.

You can use aluminum foil to sharpen all different kinds of scissors, child's scissors, serrated scissors, or craft scissors. You probably won't want to use your sewing scissors since they need to be very sharp but if your sewing scissors is dull try it before you throw those old sewing scissors out.

When you think about it the used aluminum foil you use to sharpen your scissors was probably going to just be thrown away anyway so after you sharpen your scissor with the old aluminum foil you can probably just throw it away and feel good about recycling the aluminum foil once anyway.
