If you live on a budget and like to shop for deals, you should never miss an after holiday sale. One benefit of after holiday shopping is obvious: SALES AND SAVINGS GALORE.Those sales can also benefit you in a couple of other ways. Who couldn't use a few good reasons to shop?
You can buy perennial gifts at low prices. Sweaters, wallets, jewelry, and toys overstocked for the holidays will be drastically reduced after Christmas. Stock up on standard gifts for the following Christmas. If you always give Aunt Erma a scarf and driving gloves, then why not buy them at half price or less?
There are always a few trendy items, but the style of some things doesn't change. Think about pajamas, sweat suits, jewelry, robes, and slippers. Stock up on these gifts when they are on sale.
Plan ahead to save enough money and enjoy shopping the after holiday sales. You will also find this a good time to take advantage of buying name brands for less.
After holiday sales also give you the opportunity to stock a gift closet. Keeping a few gifts tucked away can help you out when an unexpected occasion sneaks up on you during the year. Just keep a few gift bags in the closet, too.
Another reason to shop after a holiday is to stock items to sale on EBay. Last Halloween, I picked up an armload of Halloween costumes at Wal-Mart several days after Halloween. I didn't pay more than $3 for any costume. I tucked them in my EBay closet and pulled them out this year. I had ten children's costumes. They sold on EBay and Craig's List for approximately $10 each. They were brand new with tags, and I offered them at a lower price than department stores, including shipping. I waited for a "listing sale" on EBay, to save myself money on listing fees.
The total profit was around $25. That may not sound like much, but when you have a number of items like candles, yard decorations, house decorations, and party supplies the money starts to add up. You can, at a minimum, double your money selling after holiday finds the following year. In some cases, you can mark the item up 75%. It depends on the item and your original cost.
