Man, this review is almost too easy. For the Ginger People, I mean. I'm such a ginger hog it's not even funny, and gingersnaps are my favorite. I'm what you could call a connoiseur. Or addict. Whichever. Add to that the fact that the Ginger People are by all appearances as over-the-top into ginger as I am (check out the name of the company if you have any lingering doubts) and that they consistently do everything completely right, and it's really not fair to any other maker of gingersnaps that I'm even writing this review.

Ok, enough rhapsodizing, time for some hard facts. The Ginger People (though actually they're humble or trendy enough not to capitalize themselves on their packaging) is a company based in California and Australia that is dedicated to using and promoting ginger with great gusto, with products ranging from straight-up ginger (minced, juiced, grated, etc.) to gingery marinades to ginger candies and cookies. Which brings us back to the snaps. They've got a nice crunch with the slightest hint of chewiness, just like they should. There are tiny pieces of crystallized ginger, and a complementary undertone of allspice and molasses. The overall flavor is...I'm tempted to say archetypal. This is what a gingersnap is supposed to taste like. The main problem is that it took major self-restraint for me to keep from eating the entire package without stopping, like some kind of sugar-and-spice chain-smoker.

Lest you think I'm a totally uncritical reviewer, I state for the record here that I have had ginger cookies - even Ginger People ginger cookies - that were a little sub-par. (Check out my reviews for Ginger People Ginger Anzac Cookies, Ginger People Gingerbread Men, and Ginger People Ginger Shortbread for comparison.) I don't automatically rave about every ginger cookie I eat. Just the perfect ones.

Ginger is considered by many to have aphrodisiac properties. Yummy!
