I have been a bubble gum junkie since I was a very young kid. When I was very young, there was a candy store in our neighborhood and they had "penny candy". Candy that we buy in bags today used to be available for a penny each or two for a penny, or, five for a penny; well, you get the idea.

For some reason, I just took a liking, I mean, "loving", to bubble gum. I would jam piece after piece in my mouth until I could barely move my mouth. My parents used to get furious with me.

However, they really got furious with me when I got older. When I was in grade school, we had a "lunch shop" across the street from our school where we could go for hot lunch. The owner usually cooked a special for about 35 cents like a burger and fries or soup and sandwich. This was in the late Fifties and was a far cry from the school lunch programs we have today.

Every once in a while, my parents would give me a break from taking a sack lunch and let me buy lunch from this store. I loved doing it because I loved French fries. The thing was that French fries only cost about fifteen cents. I would get two orders of fries and a soda. The total was about 40 cents. That left 60 cents I was to return to my parents. Unfortunately I used the money to feed my gum "habit".

The store sold "big" gum balls for a penny each. They had "orange flavored"; "grape flavored"; "apple flavored"; and, my personal favorite, a bright blue sugar-coated "spice ball". I would return to school with about thirteen of each type stuffed in my pockets. Once safely in my seat, I would transfer the gum into my desk. It was one of those old-fashioned desks where the desktop lifted up.

One of these days, I want to do a massive "gum article" however for this article I am limiting my scope.

Double Bubble Gum Company has several types of gum that give you a choice if you love bubble gum like I do.

For 99 cents you can buy a bag of small gum balls which are flavored. They are the stereotypical small gum balls that are in machines and you get more than one. They have a bit of flavor and there are quite a few.
