Diving into the world of cloth diapering is a daunting task. There are so many styles of diapers: flats, prefolds, fitteds, pocket diapers, all in ones (AIO), and so many accessories: covers, doublers, liners, dry pails, wet pails. It takes a lot of time and research to make an informed decision and finally buy that first cloth diaper for your precious baby's bottom.

I had two main reasons for wanting to try cloth diapering for my son, Ryan. The first was wetness protection. Ryan is very easily bothered by even tiny amounts of moisture touching him, and the super holding powers of disposable diapers were doing us no favors in keeping the wetness right next to his skin. With cloth diapers, moisture is "wicked away" by layers of different fabrics, keeping baby drier and happier. The second reason for wanting to delve into the world of cloth is my son's sensitive skin. Diaper rash has been my steady foe since his first week of life. The harsh chemicals, scents, and dyes commonly found in disposable diapers wreaked havoc on Ryan's skin. Cloth diapers have no such ingredients, and are much easier on babies' bums-- they also decrease the incidence of diaper rash!

After weeks of researching, I concluded that I was going to choose between pocket diapers and AIO. These are the two most expensive types of cloth diapers, but also two of the most convenient. I decided to go with Fuzzi Bunz diapers after numerous recommendations and positive reviews from online friends and review sites. I browsed their web site thoroughly, reading all about how Fuzzi Bunz are made, how they work, sizing, and care. They come with separate warranties on the snaps, elastic, and workmanship on the diapers.
