The Red Mushroom for Your Saltwater Aquarium

There are many different types of coral that you can place in your saltwater aquarium. You can purchase hard corals which require a lot of light and a lot of water movement. You can also purchase soft corals which are recommended for the beginner because they are very easy to care for and take care of. There are several different types of soft corals that you can choose from. A few types of soft corals are Polyps and Mushrooms. If you are thinking about getting a Mushroom that you can look into purchasing what is known as the Red Mushroom.

This Mushroom is red in color and it's very easy to care for. The Red Mushroom is dark red in color. This Mushroom will require you to keep your salinity at around 1.022 to 1.026. You will also have to keep the temperature at 72 to 76 degrees. You can purchase a heater to place in your tank which will keep your fish tank at 72 degrees. You will want to make sure that your tank isn't located near any windows or heating vents. You will want to purchase a timer to hook up to your light in order to make sure that your water doesn't get over heated. If you heat up the water past 76 degrees you will have a problem keeping the Red Mushroom alive.

You will want to set the Mushroom close to the top portion of the aquarium so that the soft coral gets the light that it needs. You will also want to make sure that you have your power head on your canister filter adjusted so that the water shoots directly on the Mushroom. The water current is important because it will help the Mushroom spread. It will also help to keep the Mushroom free from algae and debris. If you notice any algae on the Mushroom you will need to gently remove it from the Mushroom.

If you are planning on medicating your fish tank you will need to remove the Red Mushroom from your aquarium. You can choose to purchase medication that is not strong enough to hurt your coral. If you do not use medication which will not be harmful for the coral than you will need to remove the coral and Red Mushroom from your fish tank and place it in a separate tank. If you do not remove the Red Mushroom it will become stressed out and eventually die.
