Crips Street Gang Charged with Murder, Robbery and Drug Trafficking in Wichita, Kansas

Specifically, 28 members of the Crips are charged in a total of 2 indictments. This is the result of a year long federal investigation that was led by the Wichita Police Department.
All of the defendants are charged with attempting to use violence and the threat of violence in order to preserve and also expand the power of the Crips street gang and to also protect their criminal enterprise from law enforcement.
All gangs have their own distinguishing characteristics and for the Crips it was wearing baby blue clothing, similar to the color used by the University of North Carolina's athletic teams. They also wore gang tattoos and used gang hand signals.
New members were initiated, or " jumped into" the gang. This involved them to voluntarily submit to a beating by members of the gang, And if anyone wanted to leave, they had to go through the same process/
Tommy Anderson, Sr.; Clinton A.D. Knight; Armand Little; Trena Marteaus Carter; Darryn; Junian; Troy Langston; Lonnie Wade; and Calvin Williams are mentioned in the indictments as being the leaders of the Crips gang.
The indictment includes charges of four alleged murders namely the Feb. 3, 1998, killing of Tisha Jones by Jason Tisdale; the Feb. 3, 1998, killing of Keith James by Jason Tisdale; the Aug. 5, 2004, killing of Umanah Smith by Jason Tisdale; and the July 2, 2006, killing of David Barney by Jermal Campbell.In addition to the murders, the indictment also includes 11 alleged attempted murders.
In two of the indictments, 28 defendants are identified as alleged members of the Crips and subsets of the Crips including the Neighborhood Crips, the Insane Crips, the Tre Five Sevens, the 19 th Streeters and the 17 th Streeters.
There are other crimes that are alleged against members of Crips including arson, robbery, possession of crack cocain and cocain with the intent to distribute the substances as well as charges of actually distributing them. And they are also charged with transportation of minors to engage in prostitution.
