The Colorado Rockies may very well be the best story in baseball right now. Left for dead by most, the Rockies surged in the last two weeks of the season to force a one game playoff with the San Diego Padres for the National League Wild Card. The Rockies won the game in 13 innings when they came back from a two-run deficit against the greatest closer in the history of the game.

Would they have had it any other way?

The Rockies will be playing playoff baseball in 2007. Can they realistically win the World Series this year? I think the Rockies could very easily be the biggest surprise in the playoffs. Here are the reasons why the Rockies will win the World Series in 2007.

First reason why the Rockies will win the 2007 MLB World Series: Outstanding offense

The Rockies may not have the offense that the Phillies have. Colorado is very close, though. Don't let the thin air in Colorado fool you. This team can hit. Matt Holliday, National League MVP candidate and NL batting champion, leads the offense. Holliday finished with a .340 average, 1.012 OPS, 36 home runs and 136 RBI. Brad Hawpe did more than just be a great pickup for my fantasy baseball team. Hawpe finished with 29 homers and 116 RBI. Garrett Atkins had 25 homers and 111 RBI. Troy Tulowitzki (who) had 24 homers and 98 RBI. Todd Helton is still around, too. Helton batted .321 with 17 home runs and 91 RBI.

Second reason why the Rockies will win the 2007 MLB World Series: The duo of closers

Most baseball teams have one definitive person to bring in during the ninth inning to close out the game. The Rockies have two. Brian Fuentes had 20 saves and a 3.08 ERA during the regular season. Manny Corpas had 19 saves and a 2.08 ERA. What's nice is that Corpas is right-handed and Fuentes is a southpaw. This gives the Rockies the opportunity to give themselves the match-up they want regardless of what lineup they are facing.

Third reason why the Rockies will win the 2007 MLB World Series: They have nothing to lose
