I received the following e-mail today and it made me think. Maybe we "Seniors" need to take this country back.

Subject: Awesome Senior Moment

Here's a quote from a government employee who witnessed a recent interaction between an elderly woman and an antiwar protester in a Metro station in DC.

There were protesters on the train platform handing out pamphlets on the evils of America. I politely declined to take one.

An elderly woman was behind me getting off the escalator and a young (20-ish) female protester offered her a pamphlet, which she politely declined.

The young protester put her hand on the old woman's shoulder as a gesture of friendship and in a very soft voice said, "Lady, don't you care about the children of Iraq ?"

The old woman looked up at her and said, "Honey, my father died in France during World War II, I lost my husband in Korea , and a son in Vietnam. All three died so you could have the right to stand here and bad mouth our country. If you touch me again, I'll stick this umbrella up your ass and open it."

~God Bless America~

Perhaps it is time we "Seniors" took back our country from these young folks that don't seem to understand the blood, sweat, and tears we have paid to keep it free. Our country is under attack from within. Begin with the poor excuse both parties have for candidates in the primary election. It is terrible that my choices are limited to which millionaire will do the least damage to this country I love so dearly. I understand why the voter apathy is so strong.

Forget that your name and phone number is on a do not call list. These politicians believe they are exempt. Forget that you understand the facts about living on the income you have. These politicians feel you have enough for a comfortable life. Forget that social security is your life net. These politicians don't even pay into it. Forget that your son, daughter, wife, husband, or grandchild has given his life to serve our country. These politicians believe their families should exist on sub-poverty income.

check point deserves to die. as the apple does not fall far from the tree. A GOOD SOLDIER ALWAYS FOLLOWS ORDERS, BUT ONLY A FOOL WOULD GIVE HIS LIFE WITHOUT KNOWING WHY!

iraqi children huh? you mean the children that jump up and steel vital equiptment off of the back of american soldiers supply trucks. the same children that try to cause our vehicles to wreck by slingshotting rocks at our windshields while on supply routes. the only thing im sorry about is that more of them do not get there heads crushed by our tires. yeah we care about the children our own, and getting home safely to them. no matter what it takes. so to all the protesters out there ill say this, i my self am not for the war but trying to play on the emotions of parents here in the states is horse s!!t . you might sell that garbage to your classmates, but maybe you should get the facts before you make yourself look like an idiot.you are only doing more harm to your cause than good. and if some iraqi children do have to die, well then maybe you should blame there parents. any parent that would put there child in a vehicle loaded down with artillary shells set to explode at the next U.S

Oops, I got long winded. I was saying that many appear to want the elderly to hurry up and die; like we no longer have anything to offer the world. My grandchildren, thankfully, don't feel that way.

This is such a good article. I have had people insinuate because I'm not Democrat that I don't care about people. By the way, I'm not Republican either. Nothing could be further from the truth. But I have noticed that the people that holler the most about the rest of us not caring, willingly admit that they wish we would just "disappear". Why? Because we dare to disagree with them. Example, I am definitely for free health care for those children that need it. But I disagree on free health care for 25 year old adults or children whose parents make $82,000 a year. Instead, I prefer we spend that money helping our elderly. Somebody recently spit on me for making that statement. She called me a despicable human being. Why? Because I don't want to spend money on children whose parents make enough money to take care of them or because I think the people that helped to build this country in the first place deserve our help as well? But then I often get the feeling that many wish the elderly w

Somewhere along the way (in our self-centeredness) we lost the desire to mentor and disciple others. If the older folks don't teach the younger ones then chaos will ensue. I think we are reaping a bit of that now.

YOU RULE! I think CONSTRUCTIVE criticism helps America evolve, but all I hear lately is DESTRUCTIVE criticism. It is designed to trick us all into believing America is so bad off, that we have to make serious, drastic changes (i.e., SOCIALISM) in order to fix them. Woe unto us if we swallow THAT shiny lure!

Alban, not all criticism is unpatriotic. For example: I'm a "Goldwater Republican", retired, living in Florida, a state with over 350,000 concealed weapon permits, but I think that's not enough. I think every red-blooded American should be packing a concealed weapon to reduce the crime rate. Do you agree or disagree? Yet I have issues with the SCHIP veto against kids (read my article). Disagreement, debate and voting are not "Rights" - they are Constitutionally mandatory, read your American history. God bless America! -Grumpy-

I'm surprized that you mentioned the Constitution. There is only one candidate running in the two party system who repects our Constitution. Check him out, his name is Dr. Ron Paul of Texas (NO connection whatsoever with GWB.)
