Call of Duty 4 Differs from Other First-Person Shooting Games

There are tons of first-person shooters out there that really don't differ from one another. There are, however, a few that actually distinguish themselves as original first-person shooters. The whole first-person shooter concept really makes them sound alike, but it's what game developers add to their games that sets them apart. One first-person shooter, Call of Duty 4, definitely brings a lot of things that many first-person shooters today tend to lack.

Many people know the Call of Duty series as the intense cinematic WWII first person shooter that started some years back and now they are finally bringing war to today. The multiplayer in this Call of Duty is quite different from the past games since there are now a huge variety of customization options. The coolest feature that many first person shooters don't include is the ranking system. Now when you actually kill an enemy online, you will actually receive experience points for this and you will slowly gain ranks with the more you play. When you gain ranks, you also unlock weapons, perks (which I'll cover in a minute), and weapon upgrades like scopes, camo and all that good stuff.

The perks in Call of Duty 4 are different little add-ons you can have that will give you an advantage over players in online matches but it all balances out so your not dominate over people either. Some of the perks include more health, deeper bullet penetration to shoot through certain walls, more bullet damage, the ability to see enemy explosives and much more. These were just a few of the perks available in the Call of Duty 4 beta and there will be many more in the retail version.

The clan support in Call of Duty 4 is nothing special. In the beta it seemed there was only the option to put a clan tag next to your name and that was it. There could be more in the full version but it's hard to say. This part of the multiplayer isn't all the crucial anyways. It pretty much just lets people know that you are in a certain group that might be well known or not.

Yeah - Halo 3 is not about realism as COD 4 is all about realism....mostly lol. Halo 3 definitly has a lot more with their multiplayer but I'm definitly having more fun with COD 4 since you can actually shoot a guy 2-3 times and he dies where as Halo 3 its basically unload a clip / beat a guy with your gun. Your right though - both have their pros and cons.

For the most part, FPS's are virtually identical. The Halo 3 multiplayer was better than the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer. Both had their pros and cons.

Leaves a lot to be desired... but congrats on showcase.
