Do you live in a school district in Ohio that is failing or on "Academic Watch"? I live in the Dayton Public School District. My 5 year old daughter would be attending this districts schools if I had not know there were other options for her education.

How many parents out there know that if your child's school is not up to standards, that he/she may be eligible to receive the EdChoice Scholarship? What is the EdChoice Scholarship??? It is set up through the Sate of Ohio Dept. of Education. You have the right as a parent to ensure that your child is going to be educated by competent teachers. If the school district is not even passing the basic, how could you know that your child will not fall through the cracks?

I chose to send my child to a private school in place of the local schools here. I chose to make sure my child is educated in a place where I know the teachers are up to standards or beyond.

Ed Choice essentially pays for my child's education at a local private, chartered school . I then do not have to worry about how she will learn her basic reading, math, science, etc. I would never be able to afford to send her to this school otherwise. I am glad that there are options out there. Of course, it is not publicized nearly enough. Parents often do not know that they have a choice when it comes to educating their children. Often children find themselves thinking that they are passing their classes, and then when it is time to test for college, they wonder why they cannot get into some of the colleges that they had hoped they would attend.

I am making sure that my child is not left behind. If you live in a school district in Ohio that is on "academic Watch" or "academic emergency". There are only 14,000 scholarships available in Ohio, so make sure you apply as soon as the application process opens for next year.

Make sure that "No child is left behind". I know my child won't.
