How to Get More Website Traffic on the Cheap
The following is a list of easy and cheap, as in most are free, ways to gain traffic to your website.
Website Link in your email signature:
I am sure we all have email accounts and most of us have friends. Some of those friends have friends. And some of those...Well you get the idea. The point is, add your contact information with a link(s) to your website or article to spread the word. If you are bold enough, you could even add a line or two asking those friends and business associates to take a look at it or refer it to others they may feel could benefit from it.
Post comments in forums and blogs:
This one may land me on shaky ground because it can be seen as bad manners (spamming) to leave your link in forum postings. If the article you are linking to is relevant to the thread, then it is acceptable and as such you should by all means ad a link to it. But make sure it is on target and on topic. No need to get banned.
Secondly if you are able to have a signature in your posts make sure you add the link to your website. Not too many forums allow you to do this however so if you do find them, and they are out there, then I encourage you to do it as soon as you can. Search engines love links and you will get some link juice for it.
Submit it to Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon, etc:
I will admit that it is not easy to get a high rank on these sites, but it doesn't hurt to try. Go to the respected sites and submit your website or article, if it is voted up the charts you will receive a lot of traffic. I can attest that first page landing can increase your daily page views by at least 20,000. If you do get on page 1 of these sites the traffic is usually not that targeted so don't expect a lot of loyal visitors.
