There are many different types of coral that you can purchase for your saltwater tank. You can purchase hard corals and you can purchase soft corals. Most people buy soft corals because they are easy to keep alive and they don't require as much as hard corals. Soft coral is good for beginners. Hard coral is recommended for people who know how to take care of coral. Hard coral also requires a lot of different supplements. You will need a good filtration system in order to keep a hard coral. One type of hard coral is known as the Tooth Coral.

You will want to have a good lighting system in order to keep the Tooth Coral alive. You will also want to have a good filtration system in your tank as well. You will want to place the coral near the top portion of the fish tank in order to keep it alive. You will want to have a canister filter so that you can adjust the power head to flow water directly on the Tooth Coral. Water movement is needed to keep the Tooth Coral free from algae. If algae starts to grow on the coral you will need to gently remove it. The water movement is also essential because it helps the coral to spread through your fish tank.

If you want to keep the Tooth Coral alive you will need to keep the salinity at around 1.022 to 1.026. You will also want to keep the temperature somewhere around 72 to 76 degrees. You can achieve this by placing a heater in your fish tank to keep the water at 72 degrees. You will be able to keep the water temperature down by not placing the fish tank near a window or heating vent. You will want to place the light on a timer in order to keep the light from heating up your fish tank. You will want the light on around 6 hours per day but no longer than that.

If you have the Tooth Coral in your fish tank and you decide that you want to medicate your fish you will need to remove the coral from your fish tank. You cannot remove the fish from the tank and treat the fish because the problem is in the water. You will have no choice but to remove the Tooth Coral otherwise it will become stressed out and die. You can also purchase medication which is safe for invertebrates.
