Once I started using this for cooking, it worked fine and till this day it has never posed any problem to me. This has become one of my few favorite utensils and I use this every now and then. This is a welcome relief for me because I can cook delicious and healthy chili with less oil and serve my wife who is a cardiac patient. This comes with a pre-seasoned coating and this greatly reduces the time required for the seasoning process at home. Besides even if you manage to season it at home, the finishing and polish can never match with that of the professionally done at the Lodge Logic company. The ready made seasoning enables you to start using it instantly.
A uniform coating of vegetable oil is sprayed that makes it act like a non stick. You can be rest assured that you can prepare delicacies by just smearing or brushing oil to the bottom and sides of the vessel. This comes with a lid that closely sits on the dutch oven and it is easy to cook and store the food in the same dutch oven without transferring it to a different bowl. The 5 quart capacity is more than enough for regular household meals.
