There are more types of coral than you could possibly imagine. There are really two main groups of coral, the hard coral and the soft coral. Many people go with soft coral because it's the easiest to take care of and keep alive. Soft coral doesn't require as many supplements as hard coral and it requires less light and filtration as well. Soft coral is mainly for people who want to try out coral for the first time. You can choose from many different types of soft coral and hard coral. Hard coral is great because it comes in a wide variety of colors. One type of hard coral is known as the Torch coral. Most types of this coral are Fluorescent in color but in comes in a variety of other colors as well.

This coral is one of the only hard corals that is easy to take care. It does require a decent amount of light so you will want to make sure that you place this coral in either the middle section of your fish tank or the top section of your fish tank. It will also require a good amount of water movement as well so you will want to place this coral somewhere near your filter system. You probably have a canister filter and you can adjust the power head to shoot water in a direction which hits the Torch Coral.

If you want to keep this coral alive and healthy you will need to keep your salinity at around 1.022 to 1.025. You will want to keep your temperature in your saltwater tank at around 72 to 76 degrees. You will want to place a heater in your tank to make sure that the water doesn't drop below 72 degrees. You will also want to make sure that the water doesn't heat up past 76 degrees. You will want to move your tank away from windows and heating vents if the water is getting too warm. You might also be leaving the light on for too long during the day. Set the light to come on for 6 hours but no more in order to keep the Torch Coral alive.
