Navajo belief is that skin walkers are witches capable of causing pain, suffering or even death. They use skins from animals to provide them with other variances. If they use coyote skin it is said to give them speed. It is said they can run up to sixty miles per hour. Where as the use of a bears skin will provide them great strength and so forth. They also have been known to gain power by murdering a close relative or even a brother/sister. It is said that they can assimilate ones body if you stare into their eyes. They commit sacrilege on sand paintings by using their bodily functions. Ground up human infant bones give them a powder to sprinkle on unsuspecting Navajo families while they are at rest. This is to help paralyze their victim. It is said that this causes illness, death or even social problems for the person(s) that are sprinkled. They have been known to break into houses, rap on windows, climb and walk on roof tops. Imitating your relatives voice is very beneficial for them to lure a unsuspecting victim to them. They have been known to have sex with corpses and eat human flesh. If they are in human form and standing on two legs it is reported that they will always sway. It is very easy to mistake a skin walker for that of a animal. They are able to use weapons and converse with their intended victims.
