There are many different types of coral that you can purchase for your saltwater aquarium. You can choose to purchase hard corals or you can choose to purchase some different types of soft corals. Soft corals are a good choice for people who have never purchased and had coral before. Hard corals are good for people who have had soft corals and kept them alive fairly easily. Hard corals can be hard to keep alive but some of them are actually just as easy to care for as soft corals. Some soft corals that are hard to keep alive are easier to care for than hard corals which are easy to keep alive. One type of hard coral that you can purchase which is easy to care for is the Honey Coral. If you want to keep this coral healthy you will need to keep your salinity somewhere in the range of 1.022 to 1.025. You will need to keep your temperature at between 72 and 77 degrees. You will need to purchase a heater that will keep your tank right at 72 degrees. You will want to make sure that your fish tank is not located near any windows or heating vents. You will need to purchase a timer for the light on your saltwater fish tank and keep the timer on for around 6 hours per day.
This coral will often times be dark grey in color. You can also purchase this coral in different shades of brown as well. The coral itself will be somewhat bushy in appearance. The coral will often times sprout out and form another piece of coral. This coral is not like other types of hard coral. This coral is easy to care for and doesn't require a lot of light or filtration. You should still place the coral somewhere close to your filter system.
This coral can be purchased for around $25 from your local pet store. Most all coral will fall within this same price range. Some of the harder colors to find with particular corals will be more expensive because they are harder to get their hands on. You will basically pay for the size of the coral and the color. Most times the coral you get will be small but it will grow with time. The Honey Coral will grow relatively fast in your saltwater aquarium. Make sure that you spread out your coral to give it proper room to grow and develop.
