I was always taught that it is inappropriate to hate anyone. My grandmother said that it was all right to hate things, but never to hate people. When I was small I didn't quite grasp the intricacies of what she was saying. Today, I do.
Democrats hate the Republications. Muslims hate Americans. Atheists hate Christians. The poor hate the rich. The list goes on and on. Even school rivalries have degraded into disturbing situations. Less than a year ago, if you had asked me if a situation like the Jenna Six could happen in today's world, I would have said that I didn't think so. I would, of course, been wrong.
I'm often taken aback by the level of hatred that I hear spewed every day. What happen to the days when you could disagree with someone's point of view without attacking the individual personally? What is with the current attitude that that if you don't tow a particular line of thinking, then you don't deserve to live?
If you think I am over exaggerating that statement, I must urge to pay closer attention. If you do, I promise you will quickly understand what I am saying. It's in the newspapers. It's on the radio and television.
I'm not a real fan of conservative talk show host Sean Hannity but I heard something not too long ago that really blew my mind. So I did some research and I have to say that what I found made me cringe in abject terror.
It began when I didn't bother to change the radio channel in the car. I normally listen to music when I drive but for some reason I didn't change the channel. Sean Hannity was on and said he was going to play some of the messages from the "Hannity Hate Line." I didn't know what that was but it certainly caught my attention.
