John Corbett was born on May 9,1961 in Wheeling, West Virginia. John and his mother lived in an apartment five blocks from the Capitol Music Hall, home to the Wheeling Jamboree, now known as Jamboree USA. As a kid Corbett hung out at his Uncle Phil's music joint, "Club Madrid." His mother was a waitress, her boyfriend worked at the door, and his grandmother made sauerkraut and hot dogs for everyone.

John got to see Country and Rock musicians who played at the Capitol Music Hall.They would stop in after a show and get on stage and jam with the house band. John played Bass in a high school band and would sing lead on songs like Cheap Trick's "Surrender."  

When he moved to California in 1986 he brought along his guitar. He moved to Los Angeles
after graduation and spent six years working in a steel factory until an injury changed his life. He enrolled in a junior college and discovered the drama department. 

He sat in on a reading and found it to be his passion.His career began with a series of television commercials but his first major role was as the hippie boyfriend of Karen Arnold in Season 1 episode 4 of "The Wonder Years" in 1988. He then went on to star in Northern Exposure from 1990 to 1995 as DJ Chris Stevens.

His most Memorable performace will always be in HBOs "Sex and the City".Corbett played Aidan Shaw,Carries love interest.He played in more than 20 episodes.

Two short lived television series 1997 sci-fi series The Visitor he starred as Adam MacArthur, a man abducted by aliens only to find his way home 50 years later with unearthly powers.He travelled around America trying to right all the Earth's wrongs while being chased by government agents. 

In 2003 he starred in his second series entitled Lucky. Corbett starred as Michael"Lucky" Linkletter,a professional poker player, living in Las Vegas. 

This show was put off the air before it got a chance to take off.It was not renewed for a second season despite a loyal folowing and critical acclaim. He however made a few big screen hits that include "Serendipity", "My Big Fat Greek Wedding","Raising Helen" and "Bigger Than The Sky."
