I bought this to escape from the allergic cold and dry cough caused due to sudden drop in the humidity. For me it was more of a necessity rather than a luxury. I got it only 4 months back and by far it is pretty decent and work great. It might be too early for me to comment with such a small time frame but then I can definitely give you a brief insight in to the pros and cons of this humidifier. The Honeywell HCM-6012I Quiet Care 11-Gallon Console Humidifier with Air Washing Technology is no doubt the best humidifier available for $109 and it is definitely worth the price. If you are looking for a humidifier with powerful output, portable and compact then this is the one for you. It can be efficiently used to humidify both large as well as the small areas with superior performance. This comes with user friendly digital controls that can be easily set with the desired level of humidity. This operates on its own and gets automatically switched off and on to maintain the expected moisture level without any deviation from the settings. The hygrometer in my piece of equipment does not show precise readings. So I have to do necessary adjustments before setting.
This can be run at both low and high speeds. I prefer to go with low because it operates silently where as in high speed it makes its presence obvious by the noise. I am sensitive to sound and cannot sleep peacefully if it runs at high. If you can tolerate the noise at high then it is fine. The name of this apparatus carries "Quiet Care" and is partly deceptive because the fan works silently on at small speed.
The water tank can be effortlessly filled and once the tank runs out of liquid the humidifier gets automatically turned off. Its unique air washing technology adds to the hygiene factor and makes it really a safe gizmo. This is equipped with ionizer and pre filter that cleanse the air along with the humidification process. The air is free of microbes and fresh and crisp. The filter seems to be durable.
