Bionic Woman

Not Your Parents' Show

NBC has really hyped its new Fall television series, Bionic Woman, and it had real reason to. After watching the first episode last week, I couldn't keep myself away this week. My daughters and I watch it together, this is the type of show I want them to see. It stars a strong,
independent woman who wants to make a difference in the world. This show has action, romance, intrique, and plenty of sci-fi based themes to keep everyone who watches come back for more.

The most recent episode, entitled Paradise Lost, aired Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007. It was produced by Lindsay Sturman, written by Jason Smilovic, and was directed by Animal House co-star Tim Matheson, who has directed episodes of Cold Case, Without a Trace, The West Wing, and Shark. This was the second episode of the series and besides Michelle Ryan, the 23-year old star of the show, starred Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Corvus, the first bionic woman. Sackhoff is best known for her portrayal of Captain Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in the television series Battlestar Galactica. The series also stars Miguel Ferrer as Jonus Bledsoe, head of the secret organization who provided Jaime Sommers' bionic parts, Molly Price as Ruth Treadwell, one of the members of the team that Bledsoe heads up, and Will Jun Lee as Jae Kim, another bionic team member responsible for training Sommers and who had a previous romantic relationship with Sarah Corvus, a plot line that will continue to dominate the first season.

In Wednesday night's episode, Sommers decides to finally train with the people on Bledsoe's team after her boyfriend, and the man responsible for Jaime having the bionic parts after they were both involved in a car accident that Sarah Corvus caused, Dr. Will Anthros's funeral. He was shot in the pilot episode by Corvus and as this episode begins we see Jaime with her sister, Becca (played by Lucy Hale), at Will's funeral. Jaime, a bartender, is raising her little sister after she was appeared on her doorstep following the death of their mother from cancer.
