Dandies grace the air with their wandering seeds
Raining little lions into the grass and weeds
Remember when this soil used to be so bare?
Before the summer you and I did kiss there?

Pebbles and twigs formed small salamander beds
And earthy sofas and pillows for worms' heads
But roses were too shy to erect a palace
Afraid of spider webs and the wasp's malice

Then one August came the gardening sparrows
They shat their crops-to-be and brought their harrows
Rain arrived and a flourishing garden grew
You brought me here, glanced just once, and then I knew

I shed my green dress and was shamelessly nude
You refused to touch me, but I was no prude
You reminded me we were not yet married
I promised I would wait---still you were harried

And I beckoned you to disrobe like me, too
But you held from doing what you wanted to do
So I danced like a lone star in the black sky
You watched me eagerly, with a heave and sigh

Pink butterflies blossomed like flying rosebuds
You and I blew bubbles from dewy soapsuds
I twirled around, nipples gleaming like seashells
I was your coy enchantress wearing gold bells

Finally, you seized me and kissed my forehead
I said, "The wedding's tomorrow, go ahead."
You grabbed a dandelion and tickled my breasts
Then you laughed, "Why copulate among the pests?"

"For tomorrow my pixie bride and I shall wed."
Tomorrow, you and shall wed."
