Fun Halloween Crafts for Kids

Here are some fun and inexpensive Halloween crafts that you can make with your child. Most projects require little adult supervision. All of these projects can be saved and used again next year.

Halloween Pins

This is a great craft project for children and adults of all ages. Halloween pins are so easy to make that most children can make them by themselves. Supplies needed: Halloween themed candy molds, plaster mixture, pins (with backings) and paint. Mix plaster according to directions and pour into molds. Place pin backing into plaster and let dry according to instructions. Once your pin is completely dried remove from mold and paint however you like.

Tin Candles

These Halloween tin candles are great to place along your walkway that leads to your house. This craft requires a significant amount of adult supervision. What is great about this Halloween craft is that it utilizes items that you most likely already have in your home. Supplies you will need: empty and clean tin cans (for example Campbell's soup cans), a large nail, a hammer, spray paint, and a small candle.

Your first step is to fill the clean tin can with water and freeze over night. This will stop the can from giving too much when you're punching holes into the can. Decide on your design and stencil it on to your can. Take your hammer and nail to "punch in" your design. Remove any remaining ice and dry the tin can completely. Once the tin can is dry, give it a good spray of whatever color of spray paint you have chosen, once the paint is dry place a candle into the tin and light.

Halloween Boxes

This is another fun craft, but is best suited for children six and up. Supplies that you will need: paper mache boxes, decoupage glue, Halloween themed paper. Have your children cut out pictures with a Halloween theme. These pictures can be found in magazines, printed out on the computer, or found on tissue paper just to name a few. Next place a piece of the paper wherever you like on the box and apply the decoupage glue over it. Continue until the box is covered. You will need to apply several more coats of the decoupage glue to seal the box. When done fill with your favorite Halloween candy.
