Plastic Container Picture Frames

You know those clear, plastic containers that often carry potato salad or other deli items? They can be turned into unique photo displays that are unlike any other. The unusual picture frames can also hold houseplants or flowers.

To make the picture frame, purchase two plastic containers: one of any size, then another that's slightly smaller. The best plastic containers are square and are made from very clear plastic. If there are labels attached they'll need to be removed before beginning the project.

There are many different ways to make photo displays from the clear, plastic cartons. One way is to cut four pictures, the exact same size, and attach one to each side of the container. They can be temporarily attached with the tiniest dot of white glue, placed at the top center of the picture. Make sure the glue is such a small amount, that it holds the picture for a minute, yet will be difficult to notice should you pick the photo carton up and look closely.

After all four pictures are in place, tacked to the inside of the carton, then you'll settle the second container inside the first. As you place the second carton, make sure the photos stay well up against the sides of the first container.

If the inside container is much smaller than the outside one, you can use tape to attach the pictures, where needed. In this case, cut pieces of foam that will go behind the picture, and between the containers. The smaller container needs to be wedged tightly into the larger one. Now you can use the small, inside carton to add a flower or silk plant. You can also house a real plant by using a small pot for the plant, and place it inside the inside container.

You can make a different arrangement by substituting the plant for a piece of Styrofoam. Use assorted lengths of craft wire to hold other photos. Create a curly-q at one end of the wire, then place the picture between the wires, and stick the other end into the Styrofoam block. Make several of these and you'll have an entire separate photo arrangement.
