Though people hope for the best and expect the worst from Peter and Bobby Farrelly, the directing brothers hit new highs and lows in "The Heartbreak Kid," a remake of the 1972 classic starring Cybill Shepherd and Charles Grodin. A romantic comedy on the surface, the Farrelly boys mine humor from the sickest situations possible.

As "The Heartbreak Kid," Ben Stiller Doesn't Play His Typical "Nice Guy" Character

In many movies, Ben Stiller plays a guy who simply reacts to an out-of-control world around him, no matter if that means a wedding organized by an ex-CIA operative ("Meet the Parents") or a history museum that comes to life after hours ("A Night at the Museum"). As sporting goods store owner Eddie Cantrow, however, Stiller lets the events change his character so much that he eventually becomes a real jerk.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Learns That Beauty Isn't Skin Deep

After watching his fiancée of five years marry another guy, Eddie rebounds at lightning speed into a marriage to the beautiful Lila (Malin Akerman). Though a real beauty, Lila starts to annoy Eddie on their honeymoon trip to Cabo San Lucas, especially when she starts singing along with every song on the radio. Eddie also finds out some disturbing facts about Lila's job once they are married.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Tries to Cheat on His Wife

As Lila recovers from massive sunburn in their room, Eddie makes time with Miranda (Michelle Monaghan), a Southern cutie who is there to celebrate a family anniversary. Eddie realizes that Miranda is his soul mate and desperately tries to get out of his marriage to Lila.

As He Does in Real Life, Jerry Stiller Plays the Father of "The Heartbreak Kid."

A comedy mainstay for decades, Jerry Stiller, Ben's real-life father, plays Eddie's dad, a man who has more profanity in his vocabulary than an entire guest panel on "The Jerry Springer Show." Almost half of Stiller's dialog includes references to the female genitalia and various sex acts.

Stiller's dad talking about crushing was amusing to me...that and the Mexican band

Both Stiller comic men always deliver laughs and good acting - I'll watch it for them if nothing else.

Hate to hear it is rude and crude, but if Jim Stiller demonstrates a different side of his character I will be amazed.
