The BS Legislation and the War on Bully Breeds

A rose is but a rose by any other name: For some reason Shakespeare always comes to mind when I think of the BS Legislation. (BSL) BS meaning breed specific, but still a rose, or BS, by any other name.

Being a dog owner of course, makes me a wee bit biased, and owning a Staffordshire American Pit bull, makes me, some may say, even more biased. However, it also gives me first hand knowledge that the BS Legislation is quite ridiculous because any dog can be vicious and my particular dog is regularly bullied by my cats. Her only threatening behaviour is to lick anyone to death who comes to the door.

Like many people I was sadly disappointed in my favorite all time comedy actress, Whoopi Goldberg, 51, when she made excuses for NFL quarterback Michael Vick on The View after he had pleaded guilty to dog fighting charges.

According to Star Magazine, Goldberg said that dog fighting "isn't that unusual" in the Deep South where Vick's from. It's like cockfighting in Puerto Rico. There are certain things that are indicative to certain parts of the country," she said. Goldberg also said, referring to dog torture, "Unfortunately, it's part of the thing."

Not surprisingly animal rights activists and dog lovers alike are up in arms. There is only one way to deal with her comments and that is to boycott The View. Anyone who advocates such cruelty is to be not only to be abhorred but they should be muzzled and preferably hung like the dogs that were hung by Vick!

There has been a public outcry and many are calling for the show to be pulled off the air. The barbaric Vick, former Atlanta Falcons football star, faces jail time and has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL.

Vick admitted to taking part in the hanging and drowning of up to eight dogs on his estate and pleaded guilty to the federal dog fighting charges last month.
The NFL clearly did the right thing and the Voice should consider doing the same.
