This is the fourth piece in a series of articles I will be writing for an Associated Content "magazine" of sorts regarding the collapse of the 2007 New York Mets. Being a fan of the Mets, these pieces will most likely not have the same tone or nature of my other articles. They will be from the point of view of the fan and not the analyst. Hopefully these articles will give some insight on the greatest collapse in the history of Major League Baseball as well as allow us, the fans of the New York Mets, some much needed peace heading into the 2008 season.

Now that the 2007 season is officially over for the New York Mets it's time for fans to reflect on the year that wasn't. In my three previous pieces I discussed the collapse of the Mets as they completed the biggest choke in the history of Major League Baseball. The entire 2007 wasn't a bust, though. There were plenty of great moments for the Mets and their fans during the season. Here are my five favorite moments of the 2007 season for the New York Mets.

Best moments for the 2007 New York Mets #5: Tom Glavine wins 300

Glavine started the season with a 5-1 record, leaving many fans to wonder if he could get his 300 win right around the All-Star Game. Glavine began to struggle in his quest for win number 300, however, losing four out of five. He finally got back on track and, on August 5 on the road against the Cubs, Glavine finally got his 300 in front of a nationwide audience on ESPN. He was given a standing ovation by the Chicago fans after the game in a great moment for one of the best pitchers of this generation. Too bad you couldn't come through for the Mets when they needed you most, eh Tommy?

Best moments for the 2007 New York Mets #4: Maine's attempt at a no-hitter

An excellent example of writing about what you know! Zac = Mets. Mets = Zac. Sorry (really!) for your shortened season.

I'm surprised that Maine's outing rated so low. Just because Glavine crapped out on the final day of the season doesn't detract from how huge Maine's game was.

Interesting observations, Zac. Sophie
