Like it or not, air travel remains a necessity and we continue to have to endure all the inconveniences and aggravations that accompany it. Late or canceled flights, lost luggage, ponderous security checks and more are just par for the course and seasoned air travelers have learned to accept this.

There are, however, a lot of out-of-the-ordinary events that occur in airports and on airlines, such as:

Males Can Be Such Dawgs!

This was literally the feeling of women passengers on a Thai airlines who complained about a pair of drug-sniffing pooches they accused of holding on to their legs in an inappropriate manner and urinating on their luggage. The head honchos at the Chang Mai Airport considered this to be "sexual harassment" on the part of the dogs and they were given the sack.

So, You Wanna Be Bumped Up to First Class?

Apparently,if you want a quick upgrade to the first class section of a British Airways flight, passing away in the middle of your trip, like one unfortunate woman did, will do the trick. When turbulence caused the deceased female's body to continually fall from her seat, a flight attendant decided to move the dead individual and her hysterical daughter to first class and there they remained for the rest of the journey to Delhi. Guess the passengers had a choice of coffee, tea or psychological trauma..

And You Thought the College Kids Were Crazy!

I'd have paid a few bucks just to see the expression on the face of the airport employee who opened up the suitcase of a Haitian passenger who had just arrived in Fort Lauderdale, the Florida town famous for wild Spring Break partying. Compared to this guy, the college kids look like a church youth group..The perplexed traveler couldn't understand what all the fuss was about when airport officials found a human head in her luggage. It was merely a symbol of her voodoo faith, she explained, brought along to keep away the bad spirits. My guess is that bad spirits and everybody else were unlikely to get anywhere close to this scary lady.

Hey, Where's the Rest of Me?

A unique article. For more tales of airline angst check out Naomi Wolf's article at www.Huffingtonpost.com about how she gets searched at the airport because she is on the terrorism watch list because as a writer and speaker she's made anti-Bush comments. I guess we've turned into Russia now. (she's a Yale grad and was Rhodes Scholar....not a terrorist)
