I remember my days in the work-a-day world when I would go to lunch with my friends. What I looked forward to every day was finding out where the consensus was going to take us for lunch. Actually, I pretty much loved anywhere we went. All the places we ate were good, and, I was always plenty hungry by noon

One place we attended with some regularity was a little family restaurant. The owner was a good friend of a couple of folks in our group and, once we finished eating, he would let us go to his "back room" where there was a pool table. We would play a few games of "Eight Ball" and head back to work. For those of you wondering about my integrity; we did not bet on the games; none of us were that good.

The reason that I bring this particular restaurant to your attention is that they had a special, yet simple, dessert; pudding. The flavor might be vanilla, chocolate or butterscotch; it was different than any other pudding I had ever tasted; it was, well, comforting. As you ate this concoction, you could feel the stress leave your body and a "calm" settle over your body. I guess that is what they mean by "comfort food".

Ever since that experience, I have sought good pudding. We make it at home once in awhile, but, it is always easier to by it pre-made.

I found a new brand that is really good. It has that "comfort effect". In fact, for this article I tested a container of vanilla pudding; and chocolate; and then I had to have one more vanilla; they passed my test.

The product is "Tayloe's Chocolate (or Vanilla) Pudding. This product is sold in a four-pack for only 89 cents. I love the carrier because you don't have to fight getting the containers out of the holder; the top comes apart by perforation.

As I've indicated; both the taste and price are great. There is 3.5 ounces in a container. There are only 120 calories per container with only 30 calories coming from fat. Further, there are just 3.5 fat grams with only two grams coming from saturated fat. These numbers hold true for either the vanilla or the chocolate flavor. This is another great product that is distributed through the Save-A-Lot grocery system.
