Nowadays, trash bags come in an assortment of colors, from pink to blue to orange, and for the holidays, that means you can create some fabulous decorations - for little money. Trash bags can be used to make dozens of different decor items for the home - no matter what holiday.

For Halloween, use a black or orange trash bag to fit your front door. Glue on spiders, pumpkin images, spider webs and other embellishments. Use cutouts to spell "Happy Halloween" across the top of the door, then create your Halloween scene just below. It's easy to tape the trash bags to the door, and easy to decorate them once they're in place.

Use orange, white or black trash bags to make a tablecloth. Decorate the edges with spider webs and spiders, or glue on small pumpkin or ghost images, cut from treat bags or magazines. There's any number of ways to make the ordinary tablecloth look Halloween-ish. You can keep it simplistic, by drawing on the bags with magic markers, or go all out and purchase small plastic or rubber bugs and such, to glue all over the tablecloth.

Cut circles from a black trash bag to make candy spiders. Cut small circles to hold one or two pieces of candy, or plate-size circles to hold several pieces. Make it as large or small as you wish. After placing the candies in the circle, gather the edges of the bag and tape to form a large black ball. Trim off excess trash bag. Where the tape is seen, glue on a large pom-pom (slightly smaller than the candy circle), and use black chenille pipe cleaners for legs, creating a tarantula that holds a secret candy surprise.

Cut circles from a white trash bag to make candy ghosts. Place the circle over a sucker, or even a Styrofoam ball, then tape tightly around the "neck" of the ghost. Add a ribbon tie and draw a face with magic marker - or even use wiggly eyes for the ghost face. If the ghost contains a sucker, pass them out at a party or to trick-or-treaters. If it contains a Styrofoam ball, use them as decorations to hang from trees outside, or place them around the inside of the house.
