Having a safety program for your day care is a great way for you to help children and their parents learn about being safe. Starting a safety program is really very simple. The first thing that you need to do is put together a few kits that contain safety information for parents to keep. These kits should contain safety information that is relevant to the age groups of the children you are caring for. They should be given to the parents after they have signed their contract and you have added their child to your day care list. If you are caring for very young children then your safety program should be catered to helping parents. You can print out a few flyers that can be placed in your kit. These flyers can include various types of safety information such as how to child proof your home, or how to protect your children on the internet.

You can also include information that will let the parents that you will be teaching their children various safety rules. This will be an extra added comfort for busy parents who just don't have the time to teach their kids the proper safety rules. If the kids are old enough to walk, you can have safety walks, where you show them the proper way to cross the street. Or you can teach them how to be safe around the house. For example younger children need to be shown which areas of the house are off limits. There is an endless number of things that you can do when it comes to safety. Here is a list of additional resources that you may find useful for your safety program:

www.NetSmartz.org- This site is dedicated to helping children learn to be safe online and offline!

www.NetSmartz411.org. - This site will answer any question you have on internet safety

www.CyberTipline.com-Here you can report inappropriate behavior by others online.
