Located primarily along interstate highways, Cracker Barrel restaurants provide a welcome respite for weary travelers all across the United States. Founded in Lebanon Tennessee by Dan Evins in 1969, the concept was to provide travelers a comfortable and dependable place to stop and rest. Familiar with the gas business, Mr. Evins also believed this would be an excellent opportunity to market auto fuel while at the same time giving the traveler an opportunity to browse through the old country store and also get a hearty meal.

From its humble beginnings to a multi million dollar national restaurant and retail concept, Cracker Barrel continues to grow and expand bringing its unique feel and outstanding customer service to new locations on a continuing basis.

But what makes this concept so appealing? In the days of yester year, the old general store was the meeting place for the community. People would come in to shop, visit with neighbors and friends, get their mail, and catch up on news. It was a warm and inviting place where one wanted to go. The same holds true today.

Walk into a Cracker Barrel and you will instantly notice the aroma of country dishes being prepared in the adjacent kitchen. Comfort food is here, you know what it smells like, and you begin to remember days spent as a youth in the kitchen of a Grandmother or family member. Aromas and smells are powerful triggers for our mind, and you will certainly be transported upon entry to the store. There are also scented candles and scents of the seasons. In particular, the fall and holiday seasons bring with them hints of cinnamon, ginger, peppermint, spruce, and citrus fruits. All traditional country seasonal sensations, the combined aromas are almost hypnotic and certainly relaxing.

A variety of old time merchandise awaits your inspection along with items specifically geared toward the traveler. Children will instantly notice the candy section which is generally located next to items for sale which are featured in the restaurant.
