Experimenting with ways to get rid of fleas can be a daunting task. Not only are fleas embarrassing and uncomfortable, but they also can transmit diseases. So, learning how to get rid of fleas is a top priority for many reasons. The good news is that there are non-toxic ingredients that kill fleas.

There are ways to kill fleas around kennels and outdoor areas if your pets live outside. Even if your pets are inside most of the time, the outdoor yard still needs to be rid of fleas. Otherwise, every time your pet or anyone goes outside and walks back in, there is the possibility of bringing hitchhiking fleas into the home. All it takes is one or two fleas to develop into a flea infestation.

How to Get Rid of Fleas Using Dawn to Kill Fleas

The first step to get rid of fleas is to kill fleas on your pets. A bath is a necessity. Harsh flea shampoo isn't a requirement. Dawn original formula dishwashing detergent is an excellent product to kill fleas. Using Dawn to kill fleas is a good alternative for pets too young for flea treatments, sick animals, and aging pets. During peak flea season, weekly flea baths are recommended.

It is possible to get rid of fleas with natural alternatives to commercial flea repellents. I swear by Skin-So-Soft bath oil by Avon. It is a more natural flea repellent than commercial flea repellents, as Skin-So-Soft contains no pesticides or harsh chemicals. After my dog's flea bath, I simply rub the bath oil well into the fur, close to the skin. Then I gently rub with a towel to remove any excess. I don't know if this will kill fleas, but it definitely keeps fleas away.

I have been using Skin-So-Soft for years on my dogs. I don't have to worry about how to get rid of fleas because we don't have any serious flea infestations. I have never used Skin-So-Soft on cats, so I wouldn't recommend it. Ask a vet first before using it to get rid of fleas on cats.
