On our first night in Scotland, Len's friend, Bill and his family took us out to eat. They suggested we go to Toby's Carvery, because here you get to choose from British & Irish roast beef, honey and mustard glazed gammon (ham) and British turkey breast. In fact, you can have a slice of one or all three. I went for the gammon and turkey.

Going back to entering the restaurant we were greeted at the door and taken to our table. Our server came and took our drinks order of wine, beer, soda, and diet soda. While she was getting them for us we looked at the regular menu. Bill suggested we take a look at the carvery for several reasons. The food looked amazing and you didn't have to order and then wait for your meal to be cooked. Also you saw what you were getting and didn't receive a surprise on your plate when a meal doesn't come up to your expectations.

Our server brought out our drinks and saw that the menus were all together so she said "I take it we are all having the carvery". We all agreed and she told us we could go up when we were ready.

We all walked up and took a plate and the gentleman behind the table placed our carved meat on the plates for us. Then we moved along to a nice selection of vegetables. I believe there were 7 or 8 to choose from. The Yorkshire Puddings were huge and the top ones seemed a little too hard so I dug down and found a moist one. The roast potatoes and stuffing looked great too.

From here we headed over to the table that had cranberry sauce, gravy, mustard, etc. After putting these on our plates we headed back to our table.

We all agreed that the meat was amazing. It was so tender and had a really great flavor. I managed all my meat, half my Yorkshire pudding, and most of my potatoes. Bill asked if we wanted to go back and get more. You could refill your plate with anything except the meat. We all said that we were full.

Our server came back and asked if we wanted dessert but none of us could manage anymore.

The desserts sounded wonderful. From their menu:

BOTTOMLESS CUSTARD JUG

Did you know you get the legendary Toby Bottomless Custard Jug with all our hot puddings? And if you finish it we'll gladly top it up for free!
