Do as I Say, Not as I Do
Okay, so you've written your first article for Associated Content and now you want people to read it. To be successful as a content producer for Associated Content, you need to promote your work. You can only make soOne way to promote your articles is to have a personal page. I have a 360 page that I began shortly before starting Associated Content last year. I used the feeds feature to draw my 360 friends to my articles that get published on Associated Content. If you have a Facebook or Myspace, use it to your advantage. I draw a lot of readers to my page through 360, which is sort of lame. I can imagine how many more I can draw if I actually used my Myspace or Facebook pages. Associated Content actually has tools that content producers can use to make advertising your work on Myspace of Facebook easy. Do not be like me -use your Myspace and Facebook page to your best advantage. It also helps if you actually visit these pages once in a while and respond to messages.
Another way to promote is to get a personal website and link your Associated Content articles to it. I have a personal website through Yahoo. I barely go on it and don't know how to retrieve messages. Yet the articles that I have posted on that site (which I haven't changed since I published the site many months ago) are still receiving countless page views. Do not be like me - spend a bit more time to link articles to your web page so people can read them.

Great ideas. I like to tell people "I know html" but actually, I copy Blah Blah Blah, so I do not have to look it up, yet again, and can just update URL, copy and paste. I just found out we can use that in ACs forum too.

I'm proud to say that I did the linking to another CP's article tip just yesterday. Now I'm just waiting for the article to get published.

good article. I employ some but not all these tactics. I do have a myspace page but I hate it with a purple passion and rarely use it. Instead I just put up a RSS feed widget so it updates itself and links to my articles. I'm finding that what's working for me is blogging. I'm starting to blog more than I'm writing and I'm noticing a nice payoff in performance bonus. I also have a few dirty tricks up my sleeve but you'll have to PM me for those. LOL anyway great article and you are 100% right.

Great idea's! I just put a widget on all my blogs, joined Yuwie so I could have more readers, joined 360, and also put it on my myspace. Since I started this a week ago I can tell I am getting hihger traffic because Yuwie actually tells you how many times your links have been clicked! Woo Hoo! Great article!

I've been thinking about myspace for a couple of years now. Not for AC, I only just joined here, for other ventures. I just looked over there the other day. Man do I have a lot of work to do if I want to put up a myspace page. Especially if I want it to pop. Thanks for the tips!

I think most writers are bad at promotion--it's why we're writers and not in marketing. Some folks are lucky enough to be passionate about both. I find the balance part to be tough--how much time to spend promoting versus writing. Thanks for the ideas you've given here!
