Tylenol PM: Insomniac Crack

Tylenol PM is a terrific pill, but it should only be taken before bed. Of course it's Tylenol, so it's not meant to cure something like insomnia (even though it does). If you've got a horrible headache or a bad back ache, Tylenol PM will help you get some Z's. It's available at any
drugstore, over the counter. WARNING: the rest of this product review promotes the used of Tylenol PM for ailments it is not meant to aide. Reader discretion is advised.

I am an insomniac. Sometimes I put this malady to good use by writing Associated Content articles late into the night or going for a post midnight run, sometimes I do these things. Other times I need to sleep (as most humans do). I don't have health insurance so I can't get a prescription drug to help my restlessness. I need something over the counter. And about two or three years ago, I found it.

Tylenol PM is so good it should be illegal. It's one of the most addictive non-drugs that I have ever come across. Let me tell you what I mean by non-drugs (and my perception of pharmaceutical and recreational drugs as well). I realize there is probably nothing in the physical composition of Tylenol PM that would warrant anyone to describe it as "addictive" (it has nothing like the components of crack that would lead everyone to describe that drug as "highly addictive"). But Tylenol PM is addictive.

It's funny to me that drug stores are allowed to sell such crazy drugs. If you are the kind of person who likes to get "messed up" then go out and drink a bottle of cough syrup. Most Americans would not consider things like cough syrup or Tylenol PM to be "drugs", at least not in the same vein as real drugs like cocaine and pot. But there are plenty of things at your local pharmacy that can get you high and many of these are highly addictive (even when they're not).

Perhaps you should talk to your husband about the Hep C. Hep C is a virus, and is not caused by Tylenol PM. It is contracted through use of contaminated needles, and unprotected sex. Perhaps you should read up on this.

Con't..My husband was just diagnosed with Hepititus C and now is the proud owner of a diseased liver as a direct result of Tylenol PM use, and me and my daughter can only sit back watching him die! If I had my wish, they would ban Tylenol PM altogether, but its obvoius that Money is whats important to the makers of Tylenol. Trust me people..its no joke..It's just NOT worth it to ever start at all!!!

I just stummbled across this article above, and I for the life of me couldn't agree more! Being the "wife" of a Tylenol PM addict, and fighting this ugly ugly little blue diamond..I can only say that it is just as bad as any other street drug available! I have watched my husband go through physical as well as psycological withdrawls with each and every attempt at letting go of this nasty addiction. He wants to stop, but he CAN'T stop, and the makers of Tylenol can sit there and confidently state that this product is safe and non habit forming? I would like to see each one of them take them as recommended of course (nightly), and then just stop cold turkey and tell me they can sleep peacefully without them..then..possibly they could be justified in stating such nonsense!Tylenol PM should be sold by prescription only. Not that that would stop addicts, but making it so readily available with such a "sure of themselves" attitute about how safe the product is.. is simply sickening! My husba

what do you mean by addicted? does it get you high or can you just not sleep without it?

I like Tylenol PM occasionally to help me get to sleep. However, it tends to stay in my system long past my wonderful rest so I don't take it too often as it slows me down during the daytime. The diphenhydramine in Tylenol PM (same chemical as is in Benedryl) is not physiologically addictive, but like just about anything, dependence can occur do to its effects. Just like some people can become dependent on cheese burgers or soap operas, etc... My only problem is with your mentioning pot in the same category of "addiction" as crack, which I find unfair and ill-informed. Similar to Diphenhydramine, the THC in marijuana is not physiologically addictive. Some people do get "dependent" on pot's effects, but that has more to do with their own dependent personality and individual situations than it has to do with this naturally occurring herb. Pot, I would say, is more similar to the diphenydramine in Benedryl and Tylenol PM than it is to crack or heroin. It's just that one is OTC

Acetaminophen (tylenol) has no psychoactive (trippy, high, mind-altering) effects whatsoever. None. If you take too many you will hurt your liver really badly. You can die from that.

My long term boyfriend and I have recently broken up and i have been taking Tylenol pm for a few weeks now. Not every night but more nights than not. I love it because it knocks me out for about 6 to 8 hours instead of lying awake restless and stressed out. I don't intend on taking it for years and years, but it has been a great aid in maintaining some of my sanity without having to ask for a prescription like ambien from my doctor.

I have taken tylenol pm everyday for about 8 years (two a day...sometimes more). I first took them because I had a college speech class and didnt have anything but the good ol PMs to calm my nerves. It worked so well I started taking them throughout the day when I had anxiety or stress. I was like a walking zombie but at least peaceful. I work nights and this is the cure all for my insomnia. I asked my doctor If I should quit taking them even though they work so well. He made a good point. He said, "its hard to say what is worse for your body, not getting sleep or taking too much of a sleep aid. ?" So its kind of a wash if you are worried about health from PMs. Taking them for anxeity is probably bad because you could risk injury or death by doing something stupid, like falling asleep at the wheel. Sleep deprived or groggy drivers are basically drunk drivers, if not worse.
