Not only can it be difficult to re-sell a time share you don't want, but the value of the time share cuts almost in half the moment it's bought. Re-sell prices for these luxury vacations are staggeringly miniscule, so don't expect to regain all of your money by pawning it off on someone else. However, you might be able to re-sell your time share if you get creative.
Contact the Builder/Owner
In some cases, a builder or owner will buy back a time share (not at full price) if they have a long waiting list or if someone wants to extend their share. This isn't the ideal method, but it is far quicker than re-selling through other means, and chances are you want to unload your time share as quickly as possible.
You can also check out Web site forums, such as the Timeshare User Group (tug2.net). These Web sites give time share owners the opportunity to re-sell their time shares or trade them for others' shares in different resorts or communities. Again, you might not get back all of your money, but it's worth a shot.
Sell it on eBay
If you can sell a house, a car and even a MySpace username on eBay, you can probably re-sell a time share for close to the purchase price. Beware of eBay transactions, however, when you are selling to bidders who live far away. You don't want to get stuck without a time share and without your money.
When you re-sell a time share on eBay or any other online venue, be sure to write descriptive headlines and detailed information about the share itself. Include any amenities, the location, the value and anything else you deem important. The more information you post, the more likely you'll get a hit.
