Pumpkin seed were once valued for their use as a therapeutic treatment to help a person pass a tapeworm and it worked.

A tapeworm is a flat parasitic worm that has a segmented body. In the human body it is found in the intestines and can grow to a length of twenty feet. In some cases it has grown past the twenty feet. It feeds on vitamins and minerals that are ingested within the body. Lack of important vitamins and minerals for prolonged periods of time can make a person extremely sick. A person in this condition may hallucinate.

There are several different types of tapeworm, four of which are still a threat in contaminated undercooked meat.

Taenia Saginata is a tapeworm that has been coined "the beef tapeworm." While cattle intestines usually aren't on the menu their muscles contain the larvae of tapeworms. Eating undercooked contaminated beef can in turn pass the surviving larvae on to you.

Taenia Solium is a tapeworm coined "the pork tapeworm." It is found in pigs and wild or tame swine.

Hymenopolis Nana is known as a "dwarf tapeworm."

Dibothriocephalus Latus is coined for being a "fish tapeworm." You might want to think twice before eating any raw sushi.

Pumpkin seed treatment for excrement of the tapeworm works on all of the above worms with the exception of the "dwarf tapeworms." In this case Carbon Tetrachloride was a much more effective method back in the pumpkin seed treatment days.
