There's no better place to go than Vail, Colorado, for your perfect autumn getaway! From the clean mountain air to the cool mountain streams, Vail is your destination for a refreshing vacation. But to make your trip more exciting, follow these traveler's tips to ensure a well-rounded retreat!

HOTELS: Hotels in Vail can range from the ordinary to the elite, so make sure you keep your pocketbook in mind when making reservations. Depending on how large your party is will help determine the cost of your stay and what room accommodations will suit you best. The resort I recommend is Antlers in Vail. The rooms are not necessarily inexpensive, as they can range from $250.00 to over one thousand dollars per night, depending on the time of year. However, their staff is friendly, room service is cleanly, and any maintenance issues you have are fixed promptly. And if you're traveling on a budget and would like to keep leftovers or some economy snacks and pop around, make sure you choose a room equipped with a refrigerator.

ACTIVITIES: Vail, Colorado is home to a plethora of activities, encompassing both the young and old. If you're in the mood for a leisurely bike ride, check out the local bike shops in downtown Vail, also known as Vail Village. Here you can rent bikes for a two-hour jaunt, where you will sail around the quaint, Swiss-style village shops at your own speed and enjoy the mountainous regions around you. Or, if you're in the mood for a more adventurous journey, bike the half-day course, where one of the friendly bike shops will drive you and your rented bikes up to the top of a mountain, where you will bike down the beautiful mountain bike paths, partially made up of the previous Route 66.

The gondola ride is also a must if you're visiting Colorado. A gondola is perhaps the best way to see the Vail Mountain first-hand, unless of course you'd rather hike the lovely trails leading through the mountain. But watch out; if it's muddy, the locals will advise you to skip the trails and take the gondola instead! Ticket prices usually run around $13.00 per person.
