We commonly hear about the nursing population that is dwindling each day. The nursing shortage is nothing new. Two main contributing factors are a lot of nurses are getting ready for retirement and there are limited numbers of graduates entering the workforce each year. Unfortunately, the bad news doesn't end there, many other professionals that work alongside nurses are also in short supply. The good news is that the job market is great for anyone certified in allied health profession.Allied Health Professions that are In Demand:
Radiology Technicians - According to research, after nursing the greatest need is for people trained in the radiology sciences. Often referred to as "radtechs", these people perform procedures like scanning and x-ray procedures- including CAT scans, CT Scans, ultrasounds, and MRIs (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).
Clinical Lab Technicians - There is also a shortage of people working in clinical laboratories. All the blood tests, urine tests, and other body fluid tests are being conducted in a clinical laboratory whether in hospitals, clinics, or independent test laboratories. These tests require skilled technicians to carefully administer the right solutions in order to ensure the right results. Being a lab technician is a great responsibility because it can hugely impact a person's health when a diagnosis and treatment are being made through lab results.
Physical Therapist - a health profession that provides the treatment or management of physical disability, malfunctions, or pain by exercise, massage, hydrotherapy, etc., without the use of medicines, surgery, or radiation. With many people getting into accidents and on the job injuries, this profession is becoming more and more in demand.
