Look for heirlooms
Heirlooms are, of course, the first source for your antique furniture. What would classify to be an antique? Well anything from him Roman era to even World War II would classify to be antique. Seek out the old attics of your favorite uncle, you might find a writing desk, a chest of drawers or even a marble top table. Get a good carpenter to mend the broken drawers, sharpen out the rough edges, get the granite polished and you will have a true antique with you.
Small antique furniture shops
In the older parts of most cities, there are small quaint shops that store many of the old artifacts, furniture, paintings, and coins. You get the picture. Usually these are a single proprietor shops and they are al too willing to help you. On most occasions they can even tell you, where the piece has come from. The best part is that you can negotiate the prices with them.
Shops in malls
Look at the malls. There are a number of antique shops that are been set up in the malls. The only drawback is the space. Since space is at a premium in malls, the furniture stored would be far less, than you would get at a standalone shop. Negotiation for prices can be also far less. Your choices are limited in malls.
