Taking nothing away from the existing members of the Manhattan Oracles, the event looks to be one that everyone who is able should come and check out. Members of Manhattan Oracles, Stuart D'Ver, Rick Eisenberg, Robin Rothstein, Donna Spector, and Mike Vogel will all have plays being read at this first "Off the Page," event. Other members of Manhattan Oracles include Liz Amberly, Chris Cragin Day, Olga Humphrey and Robin Rice Lichtig.
The talents of the writers at this event are not foreign to the off Broadway community at large. Many of the writers featured on October 18 have also had work shown locally and regionally including as winners of, or finalists for The Heideman Award from the Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival, The Turnip Fifteen Minute Play Festival, and The Jane Chambers Playwriting Award. Work from these writers may also be found in numerous "best of" anthologies from the likes of Samuel French, Heinemann, Smith & Kraus, Estrogenius PlaySource, and Dramatic Publishing among others.
The Manhattan Oracles is a playwright-run workshop which is keenly aware and focused on the development of new plays. The members of Manhattan Oracles are composed of writers who have been honored by their playwriting community at large and are constantly trying to add to the art form.
