Matt Leinart and his actions kind of rub me the wrong way. The pretty boy Arizona Cardinal's quarterback, Matt Leinart, is out for the season. He has broken his collarbone and his second season, the season that is supposed to result in the most season-to-season development in his career, is now over. The pretty-boy has now been relegated to that sideline. Now, I do not want anybody to think that I am lacking objectivity when I call Matt Leinart a pretty boy, but that is indeed, what society has labeled them. Correctly so, if I understand the ramifications for being a pretty boy.
Now Merriam-Webster defines "pretty boy" as noun that represents "a man who is notably good-looking" or "dandy." Now I am no judge of handsomeness, but considering the countless the commercials, the Draft Day promo featuring one Mr. Leinart and the females who clamor for him every minute of the day.
More socially accepted definitions and examples of a pretty boy include, "a metrosexual," "anyone who takes longer to get ready than a girl," and (I'm quoting here) "a handsome lad."
I do not know whether or not Leinart fits all of those descriptions, but he certainly does fit the football description of a pretty-boy. That description is for the player who is craved by the media and its cameras, who whines about his playing situation, who holds out for the money and who does not come across too tough in the field of play.
Leinart has recently been quoted as saying that he is upset with not being trusted with 100% of the quarterback duties since that undermines his position as a leader on the team. However, this same person looked like he was not willing to take a hit during the pre-season and first few games of the year.
Leinart's injury is going to force him to think long and hard about his position on this team. When he comes back next season, splitting possessions with Kurt Warner will not be viable option for a franchise quarterback in his 3rd year.
Do you remember when Leinart held out a considerable amount of time during his first year to get the most money out of the team? I have no problem with that. He has to get his money when he can.
