Walker's potato crisps are a very popular, well known brand of potato crisps in the UK. They are a quick and tasty snack that can be enjoyed at any time. They come in many different flavours, such as ready salted (lightly salted taste), salt and vinegar (distinctive taste of salt and vinegar), cheese and onion, smokey bacon, prawn cocktail and other varieties.

Price

I recently had a bag of Walker's Ready Salted Potato Crisps. They cost the equivalent of $0.86 for a 34.5g bag, which is about average in the UK for this brand.

Taste

Walker's Potato Crisps are much healthier and tastier than they used to be years ago. Long gone are the days when you would end up with greasy fingers after having a bag and a few pounds heavier after eating these crisps for a few months. Walker's now makes their potato crisps with sunseed oil, which is an oil that is naturally lower in saturated fat. The potato crisps are also very tasty and appealing to the tastebuds. They are thin cut and crunchy.

Nutritional Content

As with all snacks, it is important to consider the nutritional content, particularly if you must watch your weight, blood pressure, and other health requirements. There are 183 calories in every 34.5g serving, which amounts to 9% of a person's daily requirement. The saturated fat content is very low at just 0.9g or 5% and the salt content is 0.5g or 8% of a person's daily allowance. This would be a suitable snack for people who are trying to cut back on snacks high in saturated fat. Although the salt content is not as high as some snacks, caution is still required for people who suffer from high blood pressure.

Suitable for Vegetarians and Coeliacs

Many snacks may appear to be vegetarian, and suitable for different lifestyles, but they are not always suitable for all types of lifestyles. But with Walker's Ready Salted Potato Crisps, you can rest assured that this variety is suitable for vegetarians as well as coeliacs. Of course, you will need to exercise caution and avoid the smokey bacon and other Walkers packs that are clearly not suitable for vegetarians.

Recommendation

Takeaways
  • Walker's comes in many different varieties of crisps such as cheese and onion, salt and vinegar
  • A 34.5g bag costs the equivalent of $0.86
  • The saturated fat content is just 0.9g in every serving

Great review however FYI - the only walkers that are not suitable for veggies and the cheddar cheese flavour, i know it sounds crazy but its true!
