Fishing in World of Warcraft is a secondary profession, which means that anyone can take it in addition to the two primary professions they desire. Fishing used to be good for hunters to be able to always fish out food for their pets and for themselves. Now though, especially in Stranglethorn Vale, mid level characters and higher skilled fishermen can earn some serious gold just by going up and down the coast of Stranglethorn Vale.

While in Booty Bay, jump off where the boat docks and go right. Scale the coast looking for fishing pools. You will need a higher skill, and obviously a fishing pole. Lures and baubles may help you if you don't have enough skill to fish here. The pools that you will find on this coast are Stonescale eel, oily blackmouth, firefin snapper, and floating wreckage. The floating wreckage pools will either have mithril bound trunks or iron bound trunks. Just by going up and down the coast fishing every pool, you are allowing them to respawn at a higher rate and have the ability to earn more by getting more of the stonescale eel and floating wreckage pools to spawn.

Depending on your bounty, you will be able to sell the fish, the leather, and the cloth that you fish out. Now you will also fish out stranglekelp and some other items like rum, healing potions, mana potions, recipes, and some green and possibly purple weapons/armor. You will also be getting money in the crates you fish out of the floating wreckage. Just in the fish, leather, and cloth, you will be able to have about 30 or more gold in an hour of fishing.

Your gold will be determined by the server you are on in World of Warcraft and its economy. On my server, Feathermoon, the prices for the fish, the leather, and the cloth are as follows:
Fish Pools:
stonescale eel 10 gold per stack of 20
oily blackmouth 2 gold per stack of 20
firefin snapper 2 gold per stack of 20

Iron Bound Trunk:
Heavy Leather 1 gold per stack of 20
Thick Leather 1.5-2 gold per stack of 20
Bolt of Silk Cloth 1 gold per stack of 20
Bolt of Mageweave Cloth 6-10 gold per stack of 20
