Interesting question in the headline, don't you think? I mean, lets face it, we all have our "comfort foods" that we turn to when times are tough, but the question is, "do any of them do us any good?" Well, maybe one or more of yours are on the list.

For starters, if you snack the right way there can be benefits. However it starts with the eating of regular, healthy meals and possible even taking a multi-vitamin supplement so your system is ready to take on stress is a proper nutritional foundation. The interesting thing I found is that by snacking on certain foods can help you to handle stress and its effects and even small portions of things not generally associated with health benefits can achieve this goal.

How does being able to snack on chocolate sound to you? Pretty good I'll bet, and if you go with about half of a chocolate bar you can benefit from raised endorphin levels because of the sugar content. There is also a a compound called anandamide that is believed to be related directly to mood changes.

Do you like milk? Well since milk has calcium, magnesium and potassium your blood pressure could definitely benefit. At the same time don't forget that the warm milk has long been associated with calming and soothing benefits or those that go to the effort of warming up their milk.

Well, we talked about milk, how about cereal? Yes, cereal provides a quick energy burst and clearer thinking during the day. It is also quick, easy and convenient and since there are endless varieties to choose from, this snacking option should never get boring and allows you snack as healthy as you want with say, Cheerios, or with a little bit of fun if you opt for one of my favorites like Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch.
