I love picking fruits. It was one of our seasonal outings when our children were young. One of my favorite types of fruit to pick as an adult are blueberries in August.

It's now pumpkin and apple picking season and in Massachusetts there are plenty of places to pick your own. I don't mean at the supermarket!

I would suggest calling before you go to find out the condition and hours

Barker's Farm Stand located at 1267 Osgood Street in North Andover (north of Boston) not only offers apple picking but hayrides in the fall. They can be reached at 508 683-0785 - 1267. Also in North Andover is Boston Hill where you can pick apples and pumpkins. You'll find them on Route 114. They offer hayrides. They can be reached at (978)681-8556

Tangerini's Spring Street Farm Road located south and east of Boston at 139 Spring Street in Millis offers a lot of items to pick including a pumpkin patch field, a gift shop, picnic area and restrooms and hay rides. They can be reached at 508-376-5024

Autumn Hills Orchard located north of Boston at 495 Chicopee Row in Groton has a pumpkin patch, apples, restrooms and hay rides. The can be reached at 978-448-8388.

Drew Farms located at 35 Tadmuck Road in Westford offers both apple and pumpkin picking. They have trailer rides on weekends. They can be reached at 978-807-0719.

Honeypot Hill Orchard located at 144 Sudbury Road in Stow offers pumpkins and apple cider that is pressed there. They offer hayrides, a hedge mage and farm animals. They can be reached at 978-562-5666.

Parlee Farms located at 95 Farwell Road in Tyngsboro offers pumpkin to pick. Call them at 978-649-3854. You'll find a Country Kitchen here and an animal barn where animals can be fed and pet.

Shelburne Farm, located at 106 West Acton Road in Stow, is the oldest pick your own orchard in eastern Massachusetts. Along with apples and pumpkins there there is a store where you can buy jams and pies. On weekends you can get fresh baked apple pie. They can be reached at 978-897-9285.

Once you get the apples home I don't have to tell you to either eat them or make a pie! You'll have a lot so be prepared.
