Here are yet more fun Halloween pumpkin carving ideas with free stencils included. For these carving projects you will need a pumpkin carving kit with fine tools. You may cut out the individual designs from the stencils to achieve your own arrangement. When carving out slivers to indicate an outline, be sure to leave "bridges" of pumpkin so that your design will not fall apart. You can also use your image processing software to make the stencils larger or smaller. If you don't have image processing software, try GIMP or Picasa. They're free.

Halloween Pumpkin Carving: Fall Leaf Designs

Print out the Halloween pumpkin fall leaf design stencils included with this article. Tape them to your pumpkin in the desired arrangement. Use a needle, pin or fine tool to punch tiny, shallow holes in the pumpkin. Be careful not to punch all the way through the flesh of the pumpkin.

Use a pencil to outline the fall leaf designs. Then very carefully score thin lines around the outer edges and the veins of the fall leaves. Begin to scoop out the very top layer of the pumpkin skin with your tool. Make sure that there is a slender bit of pumpkin skin remaining to indicate the veins. Taper the ends slightly to give your fall leaves some style.

Another idea is to cut out the fall leaves. You can either cut out slender slices to indicate the edges of the fall leaves and the veins. You can also cut out the shape of the leaf in its entirety.

Halloween Pumpkin Carving: Acorns and Oak Leaves

Print out the Halloween pumpkin acorn stencil. Arrange the stencils on the pumpkin in the desired pattern. Transfer the stencil design onto the pumpkin using the same directions as above.

Carve the acorns and oak leaves in low relief. Or if you prefer, carve out the entire pattern of the oak leaves and acorns. You can also use the stencils as a guide to carve out slender slices, indicating the outline of the acorns and leaves.

Halloween Pumpkin Carving: Spider and Spider Web

Print out the Halloween pumpkin spider stencil. Transfer the stencil design to the pumpkin.
