Online marketing through the use of articles is known as article marketing, and is a process which entails crafting quality articles and then submitting them to various websites. These websites then publish your article(s), giving them exposure. Readers then read what you wrote, and hopefully visit your website or object of promotion, through a link that you have provided, usually in your author bio. In addition your article might be picked up by various other webmasters, which will result in valuable subsequent links to your website and/or object of promotion. This is great for search engine optimization, as it will cause your rank with the search engines to improve.

Among the many free advertising options online, article marketing is one of the most effective. It does require a bit of time and effort, but if done right will result in a large amount of exposure to anything that you want to promote online.

Some of us however simply refuse to write, or are convinced that we cannot. An individual who has no desire to write articles, has the choice of hiring a ghost writer. A ghost writer will write your article branding it as yours, however ghostwriters are generally expensive and in my opinion not really worth the money. There is also the option of purchasing "limited edition" pre-written articles. However, there is a problem in using these types of articles as the same piece of work can be sold to a number of webmasters, marketers etc... This creates duplicate content, and while duplicate articles can still be effective, nothing beats original content. A third option is simply to republish work found on article directory websites, which again will give you duplicate content. I would say that the best way to go about article marketing, is to utilize a combination of original content and republished articles, with the majority of your content being original. This option allows you to populate websites or article directories with a large amount of content, without sacrificing any amount quality.
